The College is committed to supporting you with your learning and to help we have a dedicated Student Services team to ensure you get the most out of College.

Student Services will support you throughout your course and get you involved in a variety of activities such as Student Council, organizing events, or producing our very own Student News! They are also here to help you through any difficult times; they will be there if you need a listening ear or some specialist advice.

At Huntingdonshire Regional College we are proud of the support we give our students and we aim to ensure students enjoy the experience of studying with us and being part of our community.

Our Student Services team can help you with any of the following issues that may arise:

  • Transport from home to College
  • Financial issues such as the cost of tuition fees, child care and equipment costs
  • Careers advice
  • Personal issues
  • Study skills

Safeguarding

Huntingdonshire Regional College puts the safety of our students first. College ID cards are issued to all staff, students and visitors. All of our staff are CRB checked and given safeguarding training to ensure that the College provides as safe environment as possible.

Huntingdonshire Regional College offers a wide range of provision for students who may have a learning difficulty, a disability, or require extra help with literacy, numeracy or language. The Learning Support Team will carry out assessments, discuss individual needs and put in place the support required.

Every full-time student will have a named Course Tutor whilst they are studying at College.

This is the person that you can go to if you require further information. They will help you to achieve your learning targets and goals, to ensure that you learn everything you need in order to take your next steps.

The staff in Student Services can also offer you career advice and help you with applying for University or your first job. They will give you lots of advice throughout the process of taking your next steps.

Our Learning Resource Centre also houses a wide selection of higher education prospectuses and has a dedicated careers area to help you look for job vacancies.

We also run an Employment Scheme which includes half price driving lessons for our 16 – 18 year old learners and our FREE College bus service can help you save up to £450 per year.

College is not as expensive as you may think.

If you are aged 16-18 at the start of the course you will pay no fees for your course. There may be additional costs during your course including trips, uniforms and activities – but we can often help with these.

For 19+ learners, depending on your individual situation, you may be able to get help with course fees.

If you are aged 24 or over you can now apply for a 24+ Loan to help with your studies. For more information visit our 24+ Loans page.

Bursary Fund

If you are aged 16-19 we can help you apply for a bursary fund which could help with the costs of the following:

  • Child care
  • Transport
  • Course fees
  • Equipment, uniform and any books you may need
  • Educational trips and other course related costs.

Make sure you ask about the Bursary Fund during your Welcome Afternoon! Or call 01480 379106.

If you are a young parent ‘Care to Learn’ can help pay for your child care and related travel costs whilst you’re studying.

You can get up to £160 per week and it will help with the costs of child care, including the deposit and registration fees, keeping your child care place over the summer holidays and taking your child to the child care provider.  For further information visit Care to Learn.

We also have our own Nursery where you can enrol your child. Find out more about the Teddy Bear Nursery.
