Outstanding cadets promoted at CRC
Five cadets at Cambridge Regional College have been promoted for their outstanding leadership and organisational skills, winning praise for their excellent work on army cadet camps.
Twins Liam and Bradley York, 18, Ross MacFarlane, 17, Nikita Stolerovs, 17, and Matt Tookey, 17, were promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal and presented with their Army Proficiency Certificate 2 Star by Major Graham Mawe, Commander of 3 (Ironside) Company of the Cambridgeshire Army Cadet Force.
Eighteen year-old twins Liam and Bradley York are also applying to be instructors with the cadets – planning to move up to teaching young cadets in other detachments.
CRC lecturer and Cadets’ Commander Pete Hockey said he was immensely proud of the students.
“They were all promoted for their fantastic leadership skills which really came to the fore during our latest cadet camp. They thoroughly deserve their promotions. The skills they had learnt as cadets were really put to the test and they performed outstandingly,” he said.
“Everyone who had any contact with the boys on camp couldn’t speak highly enough of them. It’s also great that Liam and Bradley want to put something back into the organisation by becoming instructors – they will both be excellent in the role.”
The college has a very successful cadets’ programme, with its own student detachment in Cambridgeshire Army Cadet Force. Many of the students go on to join the Army, Navy, Air Force and Police.
