Car dealership work experience puts College learner on the fast track to job

A car dealership work experience placement has turned into part-time job offer and the prospect of an apprenticeship to follow for HRC Motor Vehicle learner Krystian Dworak.

Krystian, who impressed during his placement with TC Harrison which began last month, said: “I’ve been given lots of opportunities to learn and I’m pleased that I performed well enough to get a part-time job.

“The work experience placement has been a gateway for me and I’m looking forward to gaining more experience in my new role.”

Another HRC Motor Vehicle learner, Mark Linnell, has returned to TC Harrison for a second spell following a successful placement in December.

Nick Mace, After Sales Manager at TC Harrison in Huntingdon, said: “Our relationship with the college has worked extremely well.

“Work experience allows us to see at first hand the work ethic and enthusiasm of the students involved which helps us to identify future employees to invest in.”

In January, HRC learners received an insight into what it takes to secure a job with TC Harrison in a presentation delivered by company staff at the college.

The session, included messages on the importance of punctuality, attendance and the need to demonstrate good English and maths skills.

Sam Empson, Sales Executive at HRC, said: “It was really valuable for learners to see that employers place as much emphasis on good English and maths as the college does.

“HRC can support learners who need extra tuition in these areas to improve their chances of job success.”

TC Harrison also support Huntingdonshire Regional College Motor Vehicle department by donating cars and components to work on.
