Great Careers in Hairdressing

Hairdressing is a popular career with many great prospects.

You can work in a salon, at home, abroad, in smart hotels or even on a cruise liner. You could open your own high street salon, or become a freelance stylist, travelling to clients’ homes to work.

As a hairdresser, you could become a specialist in advanced techniques such as colouring, bridal hairstyling or creative hair designs. Or you could combine hairdressing with a course in fashion and make-up to develop a dream career working in theatre, film and TV.

You could even get the opportunity to become an onsite stylist for performers at festivals, or become one of the lucky – and very talented – few who work behind the scenes at fashion weeks or style hair for glossy magazine shoots.

“I have always been creative and into fashion, so hairdressing seemed to be a perfect match. A lot of lads are probably embarrassed to get into hairdressing, but I’d say go for it – there is nothing to hold you back”
