Freedom of Information

The Freedom of Information Act gives a general right of public access to all types of 'recorded' information held by public authorities. This information is made available by means of a publication scheme. This college has decided to adopt the model publication scheme designed for further education. This document describes the information the college is publishing, the manner in which the information is made available and any charges that apply.

The right of access to information not already made available through the publication scheme will came into force on January 1st 2005.

Charges
Information is provided free of charge except for photocopying, printing and postage costs. If the cost of finding and extracting the information exceeds £450 (equivalent to two and a half working days) then the college will not have to provide it at all.

1. Governance

Introduction: This section covers information relating to the way the institution is governed and how decisions are made. It includes information on the legal status of the institution, which individual member of staff or group within the organisation is responsible for specific functions and where they fit in the overall structure of the organisation. In some instances information from committee minutes will be exempt from disclosure where it contains personal information, information that may damage the commercial interests of the institution or that may threaten the health and safety of specific individuals.

2. Financial Resources

4. Physical Resources

6. Information Services

8. External Relations

This section covers information relating to the institution's relationship with its external environment. These include the formal reports the institution is required to provide to its funding bodies , arrangements with other institutions, how it manages its relationship with the local community and how it retains contact with its former staff and students.
