Is this course for you?
These courses are designed for those directly working within a health or health & social care environment. The course runs as a roll on roll off programme allowing individuals to access at any point throughout the year. It is a work based programme of study which gives you the opportunity to obtain a City & Guilds qualification by demonstrating your competence. Level 2 is predominantly for healthcare assistants and support Workers while Level 3 is more suitable for those in a senior role.
What will you study?
The apprenticeship consists of the following qualifications (depending upon framework): A competence qualification in your discipline and, if applicable, a knowledge qualification in your discipline. There are a range of different pathways: Clinical Healthcare Support, Healthcare Support Services, Maternity & Paediatric, Allied Health (Physio & OT), Perioperative, Functional skills in English and Maths, Employment Rights and Responsibilities, Personal Learning Skills in Health.
What qualifications to you need to join?
There are no formal entry requirements, however candidates must work in an appropriate setting to complete the qualification and be able to achieve Level 1 or 2 Functional Skills in Maths & English.
How will you be assessed?
Learners will be allocated an assessor to support and guide you throughout the course. You will be required to take examinations for functional skills, submit assignments as guided by your assessor and build a portfolio of evidence demonstrating your competency. This may be through observation, questioning, independent study or professional discussion.
What can you do after the course?
Progress onto higher levels of qualifications within your chosen discipline or onto a Team Leading or Management qualification.
