Is this course for you?

This programme is designed for those who want to work, or currently work in Child care. It combines work-based experience with college-based teaching that concentrates upon those skills required for working within the Children and Young People’s Workforce. It is intended for those who have the opportunity at work to supervise staff.

What qualifications to you need to join?

You are required to have 5 GCSEs A* to C preferred inc Maths & English or for people already in an appropriate role by interview.

How will you be assessed?

You will be continually assessed throughout your training. Most of the assessment will take place in the workplace, plus you will take some external tests/examinations for functional skills (if required). Your progress will be reviewed regularly and achievable targets set to ensure you complete your Apprenticeship on time.

What can you do after the course?

On successful completion of this Apprenticeship you could progress to an Advanced Apprenticeship in Supporting Teaching and Learning (Level 3).

Functional Skills – you will be expected to achieve these at the appropriate level if you do not have evidence of GCSE Grade C in relevant subjects, obtained within the last 5 years.
