Construction & Trades apprenticeships

It has never been a better time to commence work in construction. Whether domestic or commercial, the UK needs to build.

An apprenticeship provides the perfect entry point into the industry, providing vital on-the-job site experience combined with day release to gain the knowledge and skills. There is also the opportunity to train as a multi-skilled maintenance operative and learn a variety of skills to support the work of local authorities, housing associations and building maintenance companies.

It doesn’t matter if you are about to leave school, already working and thinking about upgrading you qualifications, or after a change of career – an apprenticeship might be the answer.

Be a part of a workplace environment whilst you develop your skills and get a taste of what is required to be a success in your field. Your employer will focus on your skills and objectives to support your development. The college will help you along the way with your learning and apprenticeship role.

Earn while you learn

You will be employed and receive pay and benefits accordingly. You will receive the national apprenticeship minimum wage, currently £3.30 per hour, or more, depending on your employer. The average apprentice wage is £170 per week. You will get the National Minimum Wage if you are aged over 19 and a second year apprentice.

Competence Qualification

An apprenticeship framework comprises a number of elements, either a separate competence and knowledge qualification, or in some cases a combined qualification, functional skills in English and maths and in some cases, ICT, employee rights and responsibilities and personal learning & thinking skills. Construction apprentices attend college for day release to learn and practice their skills, which can then be demonstrated in the workplace. Our specialist staff are on hand to provide advice, guidance and support to enable you to find the best apprenticeship to suit your career goals.
